How this license works: This document is a standardized, public license agreement. When an author of unofficial Lancer tabletop homebrew content (“Homebrew Creator”) gives written permission (via email, Discord, social media, forum post, or similar means) for a developer (“Modder”) to adapt their work into a digital mod for Lancer Tactics by referencing this License URL, both parties agree to the terms below.
1. Scope and Applicability
This License governs the digital adaptation of unofficial Lancer tabletop content (including, but not limited to, custom mechs, equipment, narrative modules, frame designs, or lore supplements) into a software modification (“Mod”) for the videogame titled Lancer Tactics (the “Videogame”), developed by Wickworks (the “Studio”).
2. Grant of License & Right to Sublicense
The Homebrew Creator hereby grants the Modder a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to adapt, digitize, distribute, and translate the Homebrew Content into a Mod specifically for use within the Videogame.
Express Right to Sublicense: This license explicitly includes the right for the Modder to grant a sub-license to the Studio. This sub-license allows the Studio to host, execute, display, stream, promote, and distribute the Mod (and the underlying Homebrew Content contained within it) seamlessly through the Videogame and the Studio’s official distribution platforms, including Mod.io, the Steam Workshop, Epic Games Store, and itch.io, as applicable.
3. Non-Commercial & Free
Both parties agree that this adaptation is a non-commercial community project. The Mod must be distributed entirely for free to the community. No royalties, licensing fees, or financial payments are due to the Homebrew Creator. The Modder may accept passive, voluntary community donations (like Patreon or Ko-fi tips) for their development time, but cannot sell the Mod or put it behind a mandatory paywall.
4. Credit & Attribution
The Modder agrees to provide prominent, visible credit to the Homebrew Creator within the Mod’s documentation and marketplace description page (e.g., “Based on the ‘[Homebrew Title]‘ supplement by [Creator Name]“).
5. Massif Press Compliance (Representations & Warranties)
The Homebrew Creator explicitly represents and warrants that:
- The Homebrew Content is an unofficial fan creation set within the universe of Lancer, owned by Massif Press;
- The Homebrew Content was created under and in strict compliance with, and remains subject to, the Massif Press Lancer Third-Party License (or applicable Creative Commons framework provided by Massif Press);
- The Homebrew Content does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, or proprietary rights of Massif Press or any other third party.
6. Revocation for Cause
If a Modder violates the commercial restrictions, fails to provide proper credit, or alters the Homebrew Content in a manner that violates community standards or Massif Press guidelines, the Homebrew Creator or Wickworks may remove the Mod from official distribution channels.
